and so it begins...

Are we all present and accounted for? Majikman, CornellJ, Chuck Sample, Mike Sherman and me. Hmm... Mike? Uh, Mr. Sherman? You're going to have to leave.

What? Why?

We all got together and decided that mediocrity is kind of, um, un-packerlike.

But where will I go?

Um yeah, about that... we don't really care. It's been a good run. Maybe you should try not being a head coach for a while. Maybe someplace where 8-8 would be awesome.

Chicago?

As much as we would love to have you in Chicago maybe a little further south would be good for you. Say Houston? You'll love it there. You know all the great tradition and history of winning and all that you loved here?

Of course.

Yeah they have the opposite of that.

Sigh.

I can't believe your first post and we all ready don't get along! What is with all of the Shermman haters in the world?

-He won more games then your pal Dennis Green.
-And you had only one losing season.

Ya dig?

They say if you put a frog (or a toad I suppose) into a boiling pot of water it will jump out immediately. To which I say -topnotch work on the saving your life thing mr. frog.

But they also say that if you put a frog in lukewarm water and slowly increase the heat he won't notice it until it's too late and will die in the boiling water. To which I say - poor recognition skills mr. frog.

The point? Mediocrity is the slow to boil water. You don't really notice it and then you look back at years of 9-7 or 10-6 and realize you never had a shot at winning much of anything. Was he better than Ray "is my hat on straight" Rhodes? Sure. But the guy was good for 9-10 wins a year. That's mediocre. It's not good enough. Who wants 10-6 and a first round playoff loss every year?

9-7, I would love to have that record! At least we have a chance every year. Sure we lost two home playoff games for the first time in history...yeah, that sucked. What was the point with the water and the frog again?
